Venera sings Juliette in Lima opposite Juan Diego Flórez / by Florence Eves

Venera makes her role debut as Juliette in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette at the Festival Granda, Lima on 19 November, opposite Peruvian tenor and fellow role debutant Juan Diego Flórez, as Romeo.

Performances will take place on 19, 22 and 25 November.

Venera received a wonderful review for her performance from the Latin American Herald Tribune:

“Gimadieva captivated the theater right from the first scene, combining her beauty with the delicacy of her voice, which perfectly matched Florez’s in the four most harmonious and romantic duets of the opera, in which Romeo and Juliet declare their undying love for each other.”

This follows a sensational run of La traviata at Glyndebourne Festival Opera this summer, for which Gimadieva received glowing reviews for her performance as Violetta:

"Venera Gimadieva is thrilling in this elegant update... She is a soprano of huge presence, compelling to watch, with a voice of thrilling security and range, and a special quality to her quieter singing that makes you hang on every note. It's a remarkable, touching Glyndebourne debut."
