Venera sings the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor in Zürich / by Florence Eves

Venera returns to the role of Lucia in Donizetti’s tragic masterpiece Lucia di Lammermoor at Opernhaus Zürich on 4 February.

She stars alongside Levente Molnár as Lord Enrico Ashton and Ismael Jordi as Sir Edgardo di Ravenswood. The production is directed by Damiano Michieletto and conducted by Nello Santi. Performances are on 4, 7, 10, 12, 15 and 19 February.

Venera previously sang Lucia at Opéra de Rouen, Opéra de Reims and Opéra de Limoges in a run of performances in October 2015. Reviewing her performance in Rouen, Forum Opera wrote:

“Venera Gimadieva is beautiful, passionate and sensual in the title role, shining out amongst a cast of young talented and committed singers…The Russian singer seems to electrify her partners - both in moments of love and in violence. A great lyric soprano, her excellent technique and purity of tone allows her to move easily in the lower midrange. Her charm moves as much as it impresses alongside her virtuosic singing until the last climax, when failing to meet Eros, she eagerly jumps into the arms of Thanatos.”

Following Lucia, Venera returns to Moscow for Bel Canto, a concert of music from famous bel canto works, on 25 February at the Bolshoi Theatre. She will sing arias by Bellini and Donizetti. Visit the Bolshoi website for more information.
