Venera gives a recital of Bel Canto arias at the Opéra de Limoges / by Florence Eves

Following a triumphant debut as the heroine in Donizetti’s tragic opera Lucia di Lammermoor at Opéra de Rouen this October, Venera gives a one-off recital at the Opéra de Limoges on October 16. The recital, presenting a programme of Bel Canto arias, will feature the works of Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi and Liszt, including extracts from Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto and I Puritani. Venera will be accompanied by Russian pianist Pavel Nobolsin.

Hailed as the star of Moscow’s renowned Bolshoi Theatre, following her 2014 Glyndebourne debut Venera was described as “a soprano of huge presence, compelling to watch, with a voice of thrilling security and range, and a special quality to her quieter singing that makes you hang on every note.” [Guardian] and is swiftly becoming one of the most sought after lyric coloratura Sopranos in Europe.

Venera continues her French tour of Lucia later in the year, reiterating her role at Opéra de Reims and the Opéra de Limoges in November and December.
