Asian Premiere of The Tsar’s Bride at Hong Kong Arts Festival / by Florence Eves

Venera will perform as part of the Bolshoi Opera’s production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride at the Hong Kong Arts Festival (20-22 March). She will sing the role of Marfa. Gennadi Rozhdestvensky is conductor and director.

First debuted in 1899 in Moscow, the Bolshoi’s classic production, known for its intricate sets and rich costumes, was described by the Independent newspaper (UK) as “a real treasure”.

This is the first time the Bolshoi will tour to Hong Kong, bringing with it opera, ballet, orchestra and chorus, a total of more than 360 artists in The Tsar’s Bride, The Flames of Paris and Jewels.
